“Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
– Forrest Gump
One of my favorite things about meeting a new family for their session is that I never know quite what to expect. Sure, beforehand I ask the usual questions (number of people, names, ages, etc), but those are just the basics. Just like Forrest Gump, I know that it’s during the session that I get to the center of the chocolate and really get to know the family. See them interact with one another, learn their dynamics.
If I had pulled the Neikirk family out of my chocolate box, they would have had a strawberry-filled center: sweet and classic with a sprinkle (or a full handful) of fun.
First thing you need to know: it was super cold, no, absolutely freezing during our shoot. The day before was 70 and sunny, and this day was about 32 degrees before the wind. Welcome to Ohio, folks!
But look at those smiles–you can’t even tell that they are laughing at how cold they really are. That was the moment that I knew how amazing this session was going to be. I could go on and on, but instead I’ll just let you see for yourself!
In case you can’t tell–it was such a joy working with the Neikirk family and I can’t wait to work with them again!
Wishing them the happiest of holidays!
